- Naturally smoked in Metsovo (Epirus)
- Approx. 1.5 kg – ideal for dinners & parties
What is Metsovone?
Metsovone PDO is one of Greece’s most distinctive smoked cheeses, produced exclusively in the mountain town of Metsovo, in the Epirus region. It is a semi-hard cheese made from a blend of unpasteurised cow’s and goat’s milk, naturally smoked using traditional methods.
During ageing, the cheese is wrapped in rope and hung for around three months, allowing it to develop its unmistakable aroma: elegantly smoky, slightly spicy, and deeply savoury without being overpowering.
How to use it in the kitchen
- Grilled or pan-seared – golden outside, soft and melty inside
- Saganaki-style – a show-stopping Greek classic
- Oven-baked pasta – grated or sliced for a rich, smoky finish
- Aperitif cheese board – cut into cubes or thin slices
How many people does it serve?
1.5 kg = approximately 10–14 aperitif portions, depending on how generously you cut it.
Perfect for…
Aperitifs with friends, relaxed dinner parties, festive tables, and gourmet gifts for true cheese lovers. If you like bold flavours and sharing good food, this cheese does the talking for you.
