The Story
Graviera Kritis PDO from Rethymno is one of the most iconic cheeses of Crete and a cornerstone of the traditional Cretan diet, globally recognised for its balance, simplicity,, and nutritional value.
Made exclusively from sheep and goat milk, this hard cheese is produced following time-honoured methods and aged for a minimum of 3 months, allowing it to develop a firm texture and a rich, well-rounded flavour profile. The taste is gently savoury with subtle sweet and nutty notes, characteristic of authentic Cretan graviera.
Extremely versatile, it can be enjoyed on its own, sliced or shaved, or used as a key ingredient in classic Greek dishes such as moussaka, baked vegetables, and oven-finished recipes. A true everyday premium cheese: deeply traditional, never boring.
Suggested pairings:
- Greek white or red wines
- Thyme honey for a sweet–savory contrast
- Grilled vegetables and Mediterranean baked dishes
